The Advantages of Collaborative Data Governance in the Open Smart City

Smart city managers are juggling complex data governance challenges, revisiting technology procurement processes, and engaging an increasingly diverse set of local stakeholders. With the added pressures of the pandemic, the economic recovery, and climate change, tackling these challenges requires added dimensions of citizen trust, transparency and accountability, and value-driven decisions that account for the public interest. Jean-Noé Landry, Executive Director of Open North, will walk us key learnings from contrasting visions of the smart city in the Canadian context, present Open North's approach to multi-stakeholder data governance partnerships, and how they implementing this approach with the City of Montreal and its partners as part of the winning 50M federally funded smart city program.
